Got off to a much later start than planned due to a comedy of errors. Didn't get on the trail until shortly after 9:00. Since we live in PHX and hike in the heat pretty frequently, we didn't mind the late start. This trail is pretty steep and fairly technical in that there are a lot or rocks and steep chunky sections covered in loose scree. We took it slowly, as we wanted to take a lot of photos. Ended up spending about 4 hours on the trail. Had one close encounter with a rattlesnake, which definitely got the HR elevated. This is a solid, challenging hike, that provided us with a good workout! Ended up consuming about 4 liters of fluid and quite a few salt sticks. Will hit Wilson tomorrow.
