Finished our Six Pack of Peaks this weekend with the Mt. Baldy Run To The Top Race. Trail conditions were as expected. Pretty well maintained, steep and boring fire road up to Mt. Baldy Notch at 3 1/2 miles. After the “Notch”, the Devils Backbone Trail slowly turns into rocky, and steep single track pretty much all the way to the top which is another 3 1/2 miles. The weather was fantastic at the 8am race start. Probably in the high 60s, low 70s. By the time we got to the top (10am ish), it was actually pretty cool (probably in the mid 50s). Seemed cooler because I was dripping with sweat. After race support at the top provided me with a half banana, few orange slices and some gatorade, we ran back down from where we came to the Notch Restaurant and drank a well deserved IPA.
