Oh Mylanta! We finally found an open trail for Santiago. I had almost resigned myself and then out of the blue I got an invite to summit.

The trail itself is mostly used for Off-Roading, at least until you get to the Main Divide Road at which point it is mostly cyclists. I wouldn’t recommend hiking with ear buds, because you’d have a hard time hearing the cyclists and passing vehicles.

Seeing the burn area was a bit sad, but there was a lot of green .. and red!

I don’t know if it was the change in weather, but there were virtually no bugs whatsoever. At the same time, our views were rather limited due to the low hanging fog. Blessing and curse because this trail is completely exposed.

This is my 11th peak, cannot wait until I can summit Sitton!!

  1. Hi Daisy, congrats on bagging the unicorn, Santiago Peak! I see you started at Maple Springs. So you take that all the way until it meets with the Main Divide? Did you bag Modjeska also?
I mapped out the route on All Trails: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/map/map–58315
Please let me know if this is the route you took and if so how was that 23 miles? I want to knock it very soon; hopefully this Sunday.
Your help will be much appreciated!
