10 miles Roundtrip. This hike follows a road all the way up to the Lookout Tower. The road is mostly volcanic rock. Once you pass the gate after 3 miles that is where the real challenge of this hike begins. The incline intensifies and gets pretty steep. Great views of Sunset Crater and the Lava field.
