The group of 11 took just under 10 hours to complete the 20 miles and 4500 feet elevation gain + loss round trip. This route is pretty remote for the Bay Area – we saw maybe 15 other people on the Ohlone Wilderness section of the trail over the entire day. It was a long day with infrequent shade – electrolytes were a must. Good planning includes ensuring a cold beer awaits in your vehicle.
Rose is not an impressive peak – more like a hill on a wide ridge. That said, the elevation is real – I viewed raptors soaring BELOW multiple times. Other wildlife sightings included a pair of Praying Manti, and tarantula.
