We got a little delayed with rental car hang ups, but hit the trail early enough at 8:40am. We weren't sure what to expect for a 20mile hike, so we brought around 10.5L of water between the two of us. We had bad memories of the heat and feeling nearly out of water during Mount Sizer and didn't want to repeat.
The trail was in great shape, and there were a few others in pairs/small groups throughout the hike. The morning was chilly but warmed up quickly and ended up in tshirt & shorts the whole day. We encountered a small herd of cows after Schlieper Rock at the pond who were weary of us. The rest of the hike to the Peak was uneventful.
Lunch at the Peak, we met another 6 Peaks Challenger and hung out for about 30mins to rest. On our way back down, those same cows decided they had enough other walkers coming by and started following/leading us in a bit of a weird way. Made it back to the Rock and were free from cattle hassle from there.
Through the gulch and back to the car by 5:15-5:30 as the sun officially set. We finished with about 1.5L of water to spare, thankful it wasn't crazy hot.
