Amazing day for a hike, the weather was perfect and views were glorious from the summit of Mt. Baden Powell. I've done Mt. Wilson a couple times and always pretty much hated it so this year I was very happy to see Mt. Baden Powell as a substitute. I had hiked it for the first time last November and at the time thought I would do this one again. So when the 2018 Six Pack challenge came out I got my wish.
I took my time going up and was enjoying the amazing day. It was not too hot and clear out so it made for one of those amazing days of hiking. I was actually overdressed for the hike as I was expecting it to be a lot cooler at the top. The summit was not windy at all and was clear enough to see to the horizon in all directions which is a long way. Was also expecting more ice and snow on the trail and had packed my microspikes. There were only a few patches of snow on the trail and none of them more than 15-20 feet. There were melting fast and definitely did not require microspikes. There were still a couple shortcuts around some larger snow banks. The trail was busy but not overly so and the people we friendly so I had a couple nice chats with people. Shout out to the family that shared the Spiderman joke and good luck to their son who was training for Whitney.
Had some cramping near the top but was able to walk it out without too much problem. A drink at the top with some Nuun tablets in it and that seemed to be resolved. Wasn't even too tired at the bottom.
