I actually summited the peak last February 25, 2018 with a group. But I am logging in my solo hike for this peak.
Saturday morning, started at 0510 while still dark. I hate starting early by myself when its still dark. I'm a little blind when it comes to dark surroundings hahaha. I was just planning to do the Cucamonga and Ontario Peak. Thinking I don't want to go back to the Icehouse Saddle and continue to Ontario Peak. So, I decided to just bags 3 peaks in one day. Did 17 miles within 9 hours. Did really good with the time included the breaks and stayed at the peak.
The Hike:
I started at 0510 to hike. It was still dark and I was little scared at the moment but I had to start early. I made it to Icehouse Saddle by 0640. I took my little break and started my way up to Cucamonga Trail at 0655. I reached the summit at 0820 for Cucamonga Peak. After having my moments at the top, I started my way down at 0850. Going down was crazy, it was so trafficked. There were like more than 35+++ people going up. I had to wait for them to pass by. So it took my time little bit. Also, met this one guy (Tim) on the trail while going down. We just started talking about trails and everything. It was so nice to just stopped for a little bit and talked to some hikers. I didn't just talked to him. I talked to few hikers on my way down. And I had a good time just talking to some friendly hikers.
Cucamonga Peak:
I was the first one to summit on that day. I had the peak to myself. And I loved it. I stayed for 30 mins at the top. Enjoying the view. The weather was so nice. No wind. No heat. It was perfect. This was my 4th time being up here and it never gets old.
Trail Conditions:
Trails are well maintained. Easy to follow. Free of snows during the time I soloed hike it.
