My favorite hike so far! You start out along water, which is always a treat in southern California. The switchbacks up to the saddle at Icehouse Canyon were lovely. Lots of people out on the trail, and when I got to the saddle I could see why. Several major peaks extend out from that saddle–the 3 T's, Ontario Peak, Cucamonga. It's like a little traffic hub up there! After a snack we headed out, and the views were lovely along the way. Some shrubbery with happily buzzing bees around the trail, and some steep mountain views. The summit here was the prettiest one I've ever seen–the whole inland empire stretches out below, and the overhanging rock makes for some memorable and impressive pictures. On the day I was there there were actually 2 wooden signs–one at the peak and one at the rock. What a jewel of a hike! The one thing I wasn't prepared for was how rocky it was at the base, once you are back down by the water. On the way up I was just enjoying the views, but on the way down my ankles were not loving the fact that you don't take a flat step for 2-3 miles.
