Blister Sisters Conquer Cucamonga! 2 Down, 4 to Go!

It was raining in Pasadena. It was raining through Claremont. BUT, the mountain report (http://mountain-forecast.com) claimed full sun…so got ourselves up before the crack of dawn and headed for the hills. It was cool and cloudy at the trailhead, but no rain. So we began the trek! And what a day it was! About a mile or so in, the sun peaked out and we trekked above the clouds all the way to the peak. The view from the top was spectacular, and the sea of clouds below was a sight worth the grueling hike up.

This was truly one of my most favorite hikes ever! The trail was a bit rocky for my taste, but other than that it offered everything – stream crossings, shaded areas, exposed switchbacks, and a bit of ‘thrill’ here and there with a few dangerously narrow paths traversing narrow rocky slopes.

Conditions are perfect right now for those wanting to make the hike…good weather, no snow, quite a few people (safety in numbers, right?), and only a few bugs here and there! Rangers were out in force checking permits and making sure dogs were on leash. There were lots of dogs on the trail, though the path was pretty rocky and I would be concerned that paws could get hurt. This is NOT an acceptable hike for dogs in high heat.
