Local hiking experts dubbed the El Cajon Mountain trail as one of the most difficult hikes in San Diego. Today, my son and I accepted the challenge to hike it’s 11.0 miles of rolling hills and 3,900 feet elevation gain.
The trail started off with a steep climb and had several very steep hills to battle. Some of the trail was rocky, some slippery (trekking poles highly recommended). The final 0.5 miles was over and around  boulders. The return back was equally brutal.
I loved this hike!
