In starting the 2020 sixpack challenge, I knew I wanted to see some of the new San Diego Peaks.  I invited a few friends and drove over two hours to Julian. When we started hiking Cuyamaca Peak, we noticed that the fire road was being worked on. We decided to hike the road to as far as we could go and came up to some construction workers.
When they noticed us, they alerted their supervisor, while I started talking to the worker to see what they were working on.  Turns out they are installing an electrical line and had an open trench.  Luckily they allowed us to pass and make our way to the peak.  It was a beautiful, clear day with light snow on the trail.  Was happy to hike to the peak for the challenge, then hiked Stonewall peak across the street before heading to the nearby town of Julian for beers and bbq pizza at Julian Beer Company.
