A Worthy Challenge! Belknap Crater

This hike was different than any I have done in Central Oregon. Enjoyed a new adventure and the varied terrain. Much of the hike is across a lava bed with loose lava beneath your feet. The trail is easy to follow though and turns to dirt/sand as you get closer to the peak  and leave the PCT. Beautiful views of the Sisters and Mt. Washington along the way and at the top. We did the short side trail to Little Belknap on the way back. Start early! Got pretty warm. We started at 7:15 am.
