Roughly 6 miles each way, with the first 5 miles lacking shade.  We opted not to bag Valencia Peak, but Oats Peak was along the way.  Last mile had nice coverage, but lots of poison oak.  The trail is pretty rocky, so be sure to have a sturdy toe box.
