Gorgeous! Arrived at the trailhead at about 4pm to see a good bit of snow even at the start. Was reassured by another hiker finishing that despite a fair bit of snow coverage the trail was accessible. Ran into a pair of hikers coming down – one who was wearing sandals! A move she clearly regretted but she assured me she was OK. They were only about a 1/4 of the way from the trailhead when I passed going UP and I still passed them on my way down (slow going for them). Was wonderful to see snow so early in the season – not a huge impediment but it covered most of the trail starting 1/2 way up. A few times went through out to me knees. Added a bit more work but not bad at all. No surprise sepctatcualr views from the summit. LOVE LASSEN NATIONAL PARK!
