End: 6:15pm
Miles: 4.7 miles
It was a beautiful day but not long until it became hazy and warmer than this mornings hike but nice to get cool breezes. Still not bad and still my kind of conditions. I got up to parking lot in the afternoon. Lot was packed and waited for a spot to open up. I started my hike up Burrows Trail then connect to the Long Trail – South near summit. A lot has changed since last time I had been on this trail. It was really a busy day on trail with families and their pets enjoying their weekend hiking. Looking forward to the hike and reaching the summit. Trails were gradually going up and not as steep as I remembered in spots but eventually it got steeper towards tree-line and summit. There were many small windows through the trees of views around but above tree-line and at summit there you got the 360 views. Though it was very hazy it was still a beautiful day and could see close mountains and some further off in the haze. I did stay up at summit for a while once crowds moved on and then headed back on the Long Trail – North back down Burrows Trail. Couldn’t have asked for better weather! There were few runoff streams with good water source if needed. Didn’t see much wildlife on the way up. It had been four years since my last visit making it my third time summiting. Defintitely a hard and challenging hike but was worth it.
