Also on this hike
We started this hike at around 8.30 am in the heart of Larkspur Downtown. This hike combined urban charm, lush forests, and expansive vistas, delivering a well-rounded adventure. The journey began with a gradual ascent, transitioning from the streets of Larkspur into the serene beauty of Marin County’s trails. From the Piedmont Trail it climbs steadily up past Dawn Falls, over Blithedale Ridge, up Eldridge Grade all the way to the top of Mount Tamalpais East Peak. The path traversed through redwood groves, open meadows, and rocky inclines, each section offering its own unique appeal and culminating in breathtaking views from the summit.
The hike was a true testament to the region’s natural beauty and diversity. The trail offered a seamless blend of urban access and wilderness immersion, making it a unique and rewarding experience. The consistent climbs tested endurance but were manageable with steady pacing. Standing at the summit was a highlight, offering sweeping views of the Bay Area, Central Valley, and even glimpses of the Sierra Nevada.
Tips: Lightweight clothing with breathable layers and a hot to shield against the sun; 1.5 L to 2 L Â water and day snack plus a first aid kit and trekking poles is helpful as this is also a longer than usual hike;
