Hit a low point on the way to High Point

Jim Mills and I trekked up Palomar Mountain. Toughest hike yet on the challenge by far. The first 2.5 miles is the hardest. I really wondered if today was my day. Very exhausted on the steep, rocky single track portion both up and down. Once we hit the fire road it was better. Lots of annoying gnats but less than Hot Springs. No ammo log box at the top but a couple of elevation signs. Took us 3.5 up and 3 hours down.
Weather was warm at the start, mid 70’s but quickly got cooler. Don’t hike this on a hot day. No bathrooms at the trailhead but there is a campground across the street. No charge for parking.
