My friend and I started the hike at the Pinkham Notch visitor center, using the Tuckerman’s Ravine Trail. The first two miles or so were pretty straightforward; it’s a clearly marked, wide rocky path through the forest.

The ravine itself is gorgeous! It’s steep, rocky, and slippery in parts due to the waterfall and stream running through it. All in all not a terribly difficult hike (there were several young children and a couple of elderly dogs that passed us along the way!) We had cool, mostly sunny weather which allowed us some beautiful views of Tuckerman’s Ravine and beyond. It was foggy, cloudy and chilly- around 48 degrees, while it was high 70’s at the base- past the tree line. The last mile or so was steep and rocky with no visibility, which was a little disappointing once we reached the top… all that way and no view! But it was still an amazing day;  all the laughs with my best friend, all the friendly folks on the trail and all those spectacular views on the way up made up for it.  It took us about 4.5 hours up and 4 hours down. The hike down was as pleasant as the hike
