Santa Fe Bald & Barefoot
Also on this hike
Got there early, headed out in the dark. At first the trail was smooth, which as a barefooter I appreciated and of course immediately formed unrealistic expectations about the rest of the hike, because after a mile, it was all rocks. Flat and rocky, and then steep and crossing talus fields. Past a family with kids which was great to see, although one of the girls was struggling with altitude. At the top met a nurse from Texas who was fit and tough. Didn’t hang out long, though, as the clouds were starting to build. However, I did spy a big mountain to the north, which was Wheeler, so of course I decided that I would have to go there next. Put on shoes and (sort of) ran back and my feet and legs were tired by the end.
