9am Start. 11:30 Summit. 12:30 Return. 2:15 Complete Trail.

? 9.5 miles ? 2k elev gain

⏳ 2.5 hours to summit. 2 hours to base

? Horses frequent this trail. We ran into a young male horse being walked by his owners as we returned

? It had rained the day before. Trail was a bit muddy but nothing too bad. It made for softer ground to hike on.

?This San Mateo Canyon Wilderness hugs Camp Pendleton Marine Base. From this peak you can see Ocean and snow capped Angeles mountains. Definitely a trail to do in all seasons.
⚠️Road was under major construction. Be careful when crossing bridge. It has no emergency lane space. As I approached it in my Jeep a construction vehicle crossed it and took up half of my lane with its own. I slammed on breaks and hugged my right shoulder to avoid it hitting me. Both our vehicles would not have made this narrow bridge together. Be safe out there on and off the trails.
