Smokey Rose

Mt. Rose summit has great views of Lake Tahoe and its surrounding mountains along with the arid side of Nevada.  You can really see the divide of the water shed from the summit.  There was some low lying smoke that limited the views a little.  Still an enjoyable hike, lots of wild flowers still blooming, Galena falls still has some water flowing.  The trail to the summit is sun exposed, it gets warm,  there is some wind typically at the summit.  There was water available from streams in a few places along the hike if you want to filter your water rather than carry a bunch.  The parking lot had a couple of spaces when I got there on Saturday morning 0745, within five minutes those spaces were taken.  However, within the first mile of hiking there were people returning from their hikes so you might not have to wait long to get a parking space.  The trailhead bathrooms are now up and running again.
