Sympathy for El Diablo
Also on this hike
Started out at the Mitchell Canyon visitor center parking lot a little after 8am and trekked up to the peak via Mitchell Canyon road and Juniper Trail.
A route to the summit I had never done before, but wanted something new to experience as I made my way up to Peak for the umpteenth time.
The weather was great starting out, sunny and comfortable, but then it turned against me at the top.
It was windy, cold, and the views from the summit were erased out by the clouds.
After hydrating, eating a snack, and resting my legs a bit, I made my decent down the North Summit trail to Prospectors Gap and Back Creek trails.
The weather decided to warm up a bit more as I reached my car sometime after 2pm, with sore legs and a ravenous appetite
It was a nice change doing a new loop to the summit, instead of the same-old trails I’ve hiked, I don’t know how many times. It will make the memory of this trek stand out.
And with that, 3 peaks down and 3 to go.
