The Least Of The Southern California 6 Pack Of Peaks
Some fat old guy got up early and drove in the dark to take a little walk to the least of the Southern California 6 Pack of Peaks, Sitton Peak. It was a little breezy and chilly which was just about perfect for this hike. It was surprisingly deserted, just one group ahead of me and one couple that caught up to me as I reached the summit. I ran into more people on the way down, but fewer than I expected. Maybe people were flocking to the zoo that was Mt.Baldy and Icehouse after the closures. Among the people I ran into as i was coming down were Tom and Kevin, and Carla who I did Mt. Whitney with. It’s always a pleasure to run into hiking friends.
Sitton Peak is an easy hike and winter is the perfect time to do it. It’s a nice area and I ought to hike out here more often, but I get distracted by bigger higher peaks. It’s a nice little walk. I’m not sure it belongs in the 6 Pack, but that’s Jeff’s call and it came in when fires limited our options. I’ll count it for 2026.
