I did this hike last year but I didn’t see the crater because the whole summit area was enveloped in a dense cloud. Today’s weather and views were expansive and gorgeous. I saw a small group on their way down near the junction as I was heading up but didn’t see another soul the rest of the day. The trail was almost completely snow free all the way up and there were maybe three fallen trees to step over.
