Walking among the pine
Also on this hike
We hiked Mount Elden this morning, started about 7 AM. Temperatures through the hike were 70s-80s, but even Flagstaff is getting up to the 90s this week (Sedona in the triple digits). Very few hikers, only a few joggers/runners and one group of Ragnar folks. The views were great, as others have noted. We particularly enjoyed the walking in the pines on this trail and also a portion of the Fat Man’s Loop we took. Coming from the valley (Mesa), being around and in the shade of pines is something we really enjoy. I will admit the hike was difficult for us – we are not used to hiking in an area that starts at an altitude of 5000-6000, and then hike up an additional 2000+. But, it can be done. Just stay hydrated in this weather!
