Year 2020 Kick Off…a sunset hike at Volcano Mountain

A sunset hike kick off for Y2020. The steady ascent took me by surprise…already feeling short of breath. It’s been more than three months since my last hike with altitude. Went through more than few patches of ice & snow, melting snow & mud. I didn’t bring a walking stick but could come in handy especially heading back to the trailhead. Windproof jacket, thermal shirt & neck gaiter essentially saved me (and my husband) from the chilly, gusty winds that we intermittently encountered. Over all, it was a very nice afternoon hike.
