You shall not pass… until 7am ????

There is a gate at the entrance of Granite Basin and it is not unlocked until 7am. Sharing here since nowhere did I read that you could get to the trailhead until after 7am due to this locked gate. Thankfully, I met some nice people who also were not aware of this locked gate.

I was nervous about the weather at the start of the hike as there was an expected mini storm. It was cold and blustery and about half way up the mountain the clouds started to clear and the wind calmed down. Such a beautiful hike with almost three distinct environments, including some beautiful wildflowers near the top.

This was my first time hiking this mountain and it did not disappoint. Other than the locked gate that didn’t open until 7am that I wasn’t aware of. ????????‍♀️????
