High Point
April 12th, 2020
3 take aways from this hike; and then some:
- I parked next to the fire station with my Adventure Pass hanging. The website said the trail is open so I went based on that and didn't get any ticket.
- The Oaks Grove trail is a good incline all the way through. There isn't a defining moment where it is crazy steep, it is pretty consistent in terms of steepness throughout the hike. Take breaks and enjoy the views throughout the hike. I carried 2L and was fine, I drank probably 1L of water the entirety.
- The last part (1.5 mile) has snow. I am assuming we were the first ones to break the snow since we didn't see other footprints. Some parts, the snow gets muddy so bring waterproof gear. No winter gear necessary. The snow is soft and the incline is gradual at this point, there was not an instance were we did not feel safe hiking in the snow.
Extra notes:
- I started at 730am, summited at 10:30am and finished at 1:30pm
- bring uv shades, snow blinds you lol
- we didn't see any hikers at all on the trail. It was nice solidarity that we had today.
