Sawmill Mountain
May 9th, 2020
3 take aways from this hike; and then some:
- OPEN! Gates open, lots of cars parked at the trail-head, it's time to hike again (although i never did stop).
- It was hot AF. I think the most difficult part about this was how hot it was.
- My personal opinion: This hike should be replaced by another mountain. Last year I had written about this hike being very easy, but apart from that this hike is at the border of Ventura county and Kern County, aka Bakersfield….Bakersfield. I think this hike is a central valley hike and maybe we should start a central valley community as well? Nonetheless for Sawmills being so far away from most other mountains and the difficulty, perhaps we could swap it with another mountain. If I could recommend a replacement for this hike, I'd suggest Iron Mountain , it would benefit the hiking community by increasing the difficulty and ultimately preparing people for other strenuous hikes. Again, this is my personal opinion and regardless I will continue to support the hiking community.
Extra notes:
- I started at 10:15am and finished around 2:00pm
- No snow 🙂
- saw a good amount of hikers and others who were just going to mount pinos, it was nice seeing people out again
