This one has been on my list for a while, so it was nice to finally complete it! Today was actually the perfect day for it, the weather was socked in and drizzly at the trailhead, but after about a mile or so on the trail, I came out above the cloud deck and it was bright skies the rest of the day. When I arrived at around 10:30 am both parking lots on either side of the 2 were jam-packed, the turnout just past the trailhead was also full, it took me about 10 minutes to find a place to squeeze my truck in, I hit the trail at just about 11 am.

The layers I had on at the bottom quickly shed as I gained elevation, it really was perfect conditions for this hike. There were a few of the switchbacks that had a good amount of snow still covering them, some folks cut the trail around the snow where they could, with my hiking boots the snow didn't pose any problem at all. Going up, on a few of the switchbacks I couldn't tell exactly where the trail went, but on the descent, I followed the full trail and hit all the snow patches.

It was windy and cold at the top, but I found a sheltered area to sit and have my lunch and watch the people come and go at the summit, I met some great folks both on the trail and the summit. Since this was such a short hike (albeit Steep!), I wasn't in much of a hurry so I checked out the Monument – especially cool for me coming from a family with a long scouting history and being an Eagle Scout myself. As always, I took a bunch of photos and videos, then headed back down.

This was #14 or 18 and completed my Alternate Six-Pack 🙂 Now I just have the 4 big ones left! 🙂
