In addition to bagging my first SoCal 6POP hike of the year, my goal for this hike was to locate and document the two survey marks that monument the San Bernardino Initial Point. The Washington Monument was the first Initial Point; however, two subsequent surveys set different points as the initial point (one for all surveys north of the mark, the other for all surveys south.) I located one of the two marks, so I will return one more time to find the other.

This was the first time I've hiked San B since it was reopened after the fires; it was a different landscape, especially walking through what used to be chest-high Manzanita and was now wide open burnt-out stalks.
