For the sixth and final peak in our 2024 we decided to finish with not 1 peak but 3! We started with the peak that is required to complete for this challenge; Sawmill mountain. Our ascent began at 7:47am and we reached the peak at 9:36am after about 3.77 miles and 897ft of elevation gain. I found the hike to be very peaceful and relaxing. We did not encounter anyone on our ascent possibly due to it being a weekday. With the fires burning in my home mountains it was nice to get away from the smoke and enjoy some fresh air. After about 40 min at the top  we started our next leg of the hike; to summit Mount Grouse. Originally we were unsure if we wanted to complete all three but as we were leaving the top of Sawmill we ran into a couple of hikers who encouraged us to complete all 3 peaks so we can receive a cool patch haha. And so we did decide to keep going, and with that our “descent” came with a lot more hiking. We hiked 6.92 miles(3hr 21 min) 3.15 of them being going to Grouse peak and back to Sawmill, 1,198 ft of elevation gain also came with it. On the way down we stopped at the final peak (Mt. Pinos) which we passed by in our original ascent. Overall the weather was great, the forest is very peaceful and the views from the observation points are great. A great way to end our six pack and our 2024 hiking season. Not sure what is next but some goals in my future hiking adventures are to summit Mt. Whitney, Half Dome and Angel’s Landing.
