Today my buddy and I decided to undertake the popular 3-2-1 Challenge at Sawmill Mountain. The challenge itself consists of summiting three consecutive peaks (all with elevation exceeding 8,000ft) including the aforementioned Sawmill, as well as Mount Pinos and Grouse Mountain. While this was a very fun challenge and the views were absolutely breathtaking, this was a surprisingly easy hike! We only felt a tad bit winded while ascending from the Mount Pinos saddle toward Sawmill. That said, we definitely enjoyed posing with two of three elevation markers (Sawmill currently doesn’t have one, which surprised us). All in all, I certainly recommend this trail to those wishing to participate in a separate, yet fun and officially recognized challenge.
