We took the fire road as two of us brought our dogs and it's the only trail to the peak that allows pups. The Lookout road is a paved fire road all the way up. Steep at times but doable. The weather was great and we all had fun. After getting up the little rock scramble to the actual peak, we headed back to the road. My foot hit a patch of loose gravel and down I went, right on my tailbone. Ouch! 99.99% of this hike trakking poles are not needed. I could have used them for that 0.01%. Still feeling it a week and a half later.
