Choices: North Wilson Trailhead or Midgley Bridge. We opted for N. Wilson access. The first two miles were no joke. Albeit nice shady tree cover through a lush, fairytale forest, the canopy held in humidity like this high desert dweller hasn't experienced in a while,- in conjunction with some serious elevation gain up some hip-flexor-taxing natural rock stairs, and a sprinkling of poison ivy. I was elated to reach the first “bench”, knowing that much of the difficulty was in the initial couple of miles. (Never mind I was going to have to descend that same steep stretch of trail on my return). The wildflowers were showing off all along the trail. I've been to Sedona about a dozen times, but this summit was a first. Going forward, no visit will compare. Sure, Sedona is beautiful, but that view overlooking town from Wilson Mountain is epic!
