A beautiful day with 15 mates (Great Hikes Plus One – meetup.com), followed by yummy fare at Yeti (Indian/Nepalese) in Glen Ellen. Compared to Rose Peak, MSH was a cakewalk. 10.8 miles with 2,195 feet of ascent. 4.5 hours of moving time. Sunny, warm/hot, great views. Stretches of shade on single track trail, but mostly fire roads with no cover. Also encountered areas where the devastating effects of recent fires surrounded the trail, as well as lots of red flame retardant on trail/road and vegetation as a result of recent (successful) efforts to contain this year's wildfires.
Saturday after MSH hike, stayed overnight in Glen Ellen at the Jack London Lodge, and did a “two-fer” trek on the Mountain Trail the following day (Sunday) at nearby Jack London Historical State Park (8.0 miles; 1778′). GREAT weekend!!!
