We did this hike over 3 months ago, but I just found the time to log it. At the time there was a high wind advisory in effect for Volcan Mountain that warned about 55 mph gusts. I expected it to be “just a little windy” towards the summit, but it turned out that I underestimated the situation quite a bit. The gusts were so strong that, at times, it was really hard to make progress, and sometimes you could literally “lean into the wind”. My wife's hat blew away and disappeared out of sight so quickly that we didn't even bother chasing after it. We also saw some sizable branches flying through the air and had to keep an eye out for airborne debris.
There were still a few patches of snow around the summit, but the trail itself was snow free.
Luckily, other than the lost hat, nothing bad happened, and all in all it was a fun adventure to hike Volcan Mountain during a high wind advisory.
