The towering Mt Diablo has always been one of my favorite hiking arena. With so many trails from easy to moderate to the most strenuous, it is always a place where one can wish for what level of challenge to go for ! For this one, I decided to hike up the well known 6 peaks of Mt Diablo with one of my hiking buddy. It is considered a tough one and needs some preparation to keep your reflexes active.

The day turned out to be perfect though the late fall heat already started to raise the temperatures from the last few days. We started off in the clockwise direction from the Mitchell Canyon visitor center. The initial couple of miles are gradual but the elevation quickly caught up as we reached Mt Olympia. Thereafter the North Peak which is a little challenging because of the loose rocks ..and by the time we arrived at Mt. Diablo it was lunch time. We had a good snack and chatted with few fellow hikers before heading down via the Eagle peak, Twin peak and Mitchell rock. Though this hike was pretty intense but it was a great accomplishment and fun to have done it in one day. Again the advise will be to bring enough water and food to keep your body energy going along with protective assets…sun screen, hats etc.. Hiking poles are of great help especially on some of those rocky trails. Finally after about 7 hours after a great hike we were back at the Visitor center. Go for it and you will never regret but be fit before trying this adventurous 6 peak loop trail.
