Nearly 6,000 feet in six miles just to the Baldy summit, more elevation gain than San G or Whitney! Of course, without the higher elevations. The first part of the hike was hot and extremely strenuous. It was my second summit of Baldy this year, but my brother missed that hike, so I decided I'd go with him, but this time take another route. We also summited West Baldy and Mt. Harwood since we were there. We took Devil's Backbone down. We had to hitch a ride back to our car at the Mt. Baldy Visitor Center, five to six miles down road (my first hitchhiking experience). Altogether a great conditioning hike!
