What a doozy! We started the hike early Friday morning wearing heavy backpacking bags. Why you ask? Because sometimes it's nice to camp with a few luxuries…a small chair, a flask, warm layers, etc. But as we started on that first mile holy hell we wished that we were hiking UL instead. Heed the warning that the first mile and the last few miles are the worse on this trail. Nonetheless we made it with our packs to High Creek camp where we ditched them for a lighter load. Made it to the summit and then back to camp before dark. The views were amazing and we had some fabulous weather. Windy and cold at the top, but bearable. We hiked out the next morning after a relaxing breakfast. As the sun continued to rise the Saturday crowd started to mosey on up the mountain, along with a massive amount of red ants. It was time to go home and cheers an ice cold beer to celebrate another bagged peak.
Oh and we saw a huge rattle snake and named it Tiny.
