We loved this hike. We followed the Azalea Loop Trail past Azalea Springs, then kept following signs to “lookout” and “peak”. Weather was nice and cool but I wore a tank top most of the way up. We somehow ended up on the Fire Road which is very steep, and followed it all the way to the road closure. Instantly before the road closure is Conejas Trail, take it left. This is where I put on gloves, ear cover and coat. This will take you all the way to the peak. The clouds were low so the peak was in the clouds, but the views on the way down were beautiful.
