My girlfriend and I started this hike around 2:45PM. It was bright and sunny (but not hot) with a little breeze, and there was little foot traffic (both directions). The hike was fresh, the trail conditions were good, and the views were spectacular. For once I came ill-prepared, with only 1L of water and 3 oat bites, and having eaten very little prior. I made it to the section where you start to climb the false peaks without consuming any water (bad idea). Though it was bright out, it didn’t feel that hot. In about an hour and a half we hit the peak, enjoyed the serenity as there was no one there when we got there, took our photos, ate our snacks, and headed back down. We were wearing our trail runners (broke in my Hokas) so we took moments to jog on our way down. On occasion I ran into bunches of little flies, but nothing to “bug” me. By the time I got past the false peaks I just about ran out of water and when we completed the hike I was exhausted! Next time, I know to listen to my girlfriend’s advice :).
