We started our hike around 6 AM. The weather was cool and the majority of the trail is shaded. The trail starts with oaks and eventually a variety of pines, with one of the more recognizable pines, the sugar pine. Be prepared to hike up switchbacks the entire trail. The peak rewards you with a view above the clouds, which is incredibly awe inspiring. At the peak you will also come across the monument for Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of boy scouting. Those hiking through the PCT can sign a book located to the right of the monument and the US flag (and a smaller Mexican flag attached) and the Baden-Powell sign with the elevation. There was a short line to take pictures at the flag and with the sign. If you hike a little past the flag you will be rewarded with a view of the surrounding mountains and the clouds. This is a nice day hike that was very enjoyable.
