Started just before 10 and the weather was beautiful! The 1st 2 miles were relentless, until the trail ties in with the fire road. I thought once I hit the fire road the elevation gain would level off, I was wrong! Its a pretty aggressive climb all the way up! You're also fully exposed to the sun 90% of the hike. The gnats were a pain for the last mile or so, when you're in the shade of the oak trees approaching the peak. Although the views from the top were beautiful, I probably won't hike this one again. So many other trails that offer a much more scenic adventure throughout the climb!

I really appreciate you sharing your experience, I’ll be doing this one in 2 weeks after El Cajon.
El Cajon is on my list for November! Neither are very scenic and the climb is fairly comparable! I’m heading North to hit Ontario or Cucamonga Peak next week. Good luck!
