Started the right around sunrise (6:00am) temperature in Redbox parking lot was 74 degrees. Nice easy to follow trail. Last 1.5 miles is very strenuous. Those false summits play with your mind. BRING PLENTY OF WATER, no water source on trail. Summited a little before 9am, met a great scout troop (Troop 308 I believe) at the top. Enjoyed Strawberries and the view for about 45 minute then headed down. First 1.5 miles is just as challenging on the way down as it was on the way up, blast furnace…. Back to the car by noon, it was 98 degrees in the Redbox parking lot.. My advice START THIS ONE EARLY.
On a side note, my Solomon “Cross-Hike” boots are insane. Light with awesome support and traction, this is the 4th peak in these boots and all I can say is DAMN these are nice…. Had a hell of a time with my feet before I found these, just passing on info, not affiliated with Solomon in any way.
Peak #4
