I started the hike around 6:30AM. The switchbacks up were easy to follow for the first 2 miles with minor snow patches along the way, but past mile 2 the snow became really heavy, and I needed to put on microspikes. The remaining switchbacks to the summit were completely covered with about 2-3′ of snow. This made it impossible to navigate, so I had to cut straight up the mountain the steep way. The plateau near the summit was not covered in as much snow due to the higher sun exposure at the top, and the summit was breathtaking with snowy Mount Baldy to the east and the cloud covered Inland Empire to the South. The way down was really tricky because the sun had started to shine on the snow and it became slush in some areas. The way down was not only steep but also slippery. But I eventually made it back to the parking lot at Vincent Gulch at 10:30 AM and got to enjoy the rest of Memorial day.
