“An Endless Journey” is a fitting moniker for yesterday’s excursion because it literally felt as if we would never reach the High Point peak. Every bend in the trail would immediately crush any hope that an end was near by adding yet one more steep obstacle to climb up to reach our goal. I’m not going to lie, it was a tough 6.5-mile hike for me to ascend 3,500 feet. The 6.5-mile trek back to the trailhead used an entire new set of muscles to descend the mountainside and felt just as challenging as the climb to the peak. However, we did it! I loved every second of the suffering and exhaustion. Except for the horse flies and gnats.????????♂️
