This was my bucket list hike for a long time. This challenge gave me the perfect excuse to finally go for it!
I started my day around 6:45 am. It was a cooler morning, but the weather warmed up nicely as the day progressed. As I began the trail, the terrain wasn't too bad – relatively flat. There is a point about a mile in or so where the trail is hard to find – there are three options (only two of which are obvious at first). Luckily, I found a few fellow hikers and was able to find where the trail was after getting lost for a little bit.
The first part of the trail has nice. The last mile and a half was brutal. When I summited Sitton Peak recently, I thought the last quarter mile with the rocky ascent was intense. Strawberry Peak managed to one-up Sitton with several rocky false summits and the the final ascent to the top of Strawberry Peak.
It was worth it.
Once at the top, I rested while being disappointed that I didn't get a chance to bring strawberries with me. Then, I began the hike back to the parking lot. Overall it was a good hike and I'm definitely glad I did it!
