Rather than follow the AllTrails suggestion, we started at the TH right on the beach road in the state park. This is a very popular mountain biking trail, so be alert (it was not a problem for us). We started this hike after doing Oats on a day when the surf was huge. The sound was intensely powerful. It was a sunny, beautiful day at the start but as we ascended, the marine layer started to roll in and by the time we returned the peak and the beach were socked in. The trails to ascend this peak, Bishop and Oats are all fairly exposed, and even though it was a cool winter day with cloud cover a lot of the time, I still needed plenty of water, so plan accordingly.

This was peak #6 for me and I'm super happy I was able to complete a Six Pack given some unexpected “life curveballs” that came my way this year. I'm so grateful to my cousin Laural for accompanying me on these last 3 (even though she had already completed her own Six Pack)! Woohoo!
